Data Driven Marketing Seen as Key for Sustained Engagement with Growing Customer Base

GOLDEN, COLO., Jan. 21, 2021—Ascent360 announced Calgary’s The Bike Shop as its newest client today. Following a year of tremendous growth, The Bike Shop wanted to ensure it could continue to provide outstanding, personalized service to all of its existing and new customers through the pandemic and beyond.

Established in 1972 in a centrally located Calgary, Alberta store, The Bike Shop now includes three stores as well as an ecommerce shop that serve customers throughout Alberta. And business is booming. “In 2020, we grew 400%,” said Jon O’Krainetz, eCommerce Manager, The Bike Shop. “In some months we saw over 1000% growth.”

The Bike Shop stores stock full stables of bikes for every type of rider, but the retail chain has a reputation as the go-to store in the Calgary region for high-end mountain bikes. Just consider that it placed the largest booking order ever with Rocky Mountain Bikes and is also the top Rocky Mountain Bikes dealer in Canada.

O’Krainetz says customers gravitate toward The Bike Shop for its welcoming environment and the outstanding service from staff. “We’re all cyclists here at The Bike Shop and our entire staff is passionate about bikes and spreading the love of riding,” explained O’Krainetz. “Our primary concern is providing the same level of service no matter the size of the order. I think our customers see that an appreciate it.”

With all of its recent growth and ongoing pandemic-related communication challenges, O’Krainetz said that The Bike Shop needed a way to stay in touch with customers. “Based on our recent success, we have some ambitious growth plans,” O’Krainetz explained. “What we like about Ascent360 is that it gives key parts of the business a voice. I mean it not only enables our ecommerce department to easily send out targeted offers for clothing or accessories, but our service department can also send reminders and incentives to new bike owners. The fact that it easily integrates with our Ascend POS and BigCommerce systems was an added bonus.”

“The Ascent360 Data Driven Marketing Platform gives The Bike Shop’s teams access to deeper data and the ability to easily create targeted and automated post-purchase campaigns,” added Scott Buelter, CEO at Ascent360. “That will help The Bike Shop extend its stellar service levels into its ongoing marketing efforts and make the most of its customer database, since 65% of revenue generally comes from current customers.”
